Arsenal are looking to make it two wins from two for the new Premier League season as Burnley head to north London for Saturday’s early kick-off.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s coolly-taken finish earned the Gunners a 1-0 victory at St James’ Park last weekend, and Unai Emery’s men will want to make it another three points in their first game in front of the Emirates crowd this term.

Sean Dyche’s Burnley may have finished 15th last season after a disjointed campaign, but the Clarets thrashed Southampton 3-0 in their opening game and will be full of confidence for their trip to the capital.

Unai Emery says he is “100 percent” confident Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are mentally ready to play against Burnley on Saturday.

The pair were left out of the 1-0 win at Newcastle on the opening day due to “further security incidents” after they were involved in a car-jacking by an armed gang in July.
Kolasinac returned to training on Wednesday, with Ozil missing through illness, and both players trained on Thursday ahead of the Clarets’ visit to the Emirates Stadium.

Asked if he was confident they were mentally prepared to play, Arsenal coach Emery said: “Yes, 100 percent. I am 100 percent with them. With their mentalities, they are focused for us, for training and for [the] match.

“My focus is to be positive and think the players are 100 percent, with their minds here. I want to help them to be in normality with us, training, thinking and above all focused on each training session and match.

“Of course, I am pleased they are back.

“They came back in Tuesday, Mesut was sick yesterday but today is getting better. When they are training consistently every day, it is good news for us because we can choose them to help us in the matches, and in the match on Saturday.

“If they are training consistently each day, they are in normal work in training, we decide and give the best solution for each moment. It’s positive they are with us now.”

How will Arsenal line up today?

Unai Emery faces a big call this afternoon over whether to stick or twist with the same Arsenal defence which won at Newcastle United.

The Gunners secured a 1-0 victory at St James’ Park last Sunday to kick off the new Premier League season with three point – and, crucially, a clean sheet away from home.

Defence was a constant frustration for Emery last term, with Arsenal’s impressive attack so often let down by basic errors at the back.

David Luiz has been brought in from Chelsea to cover the departure of former captain Laurent Koscielny, but the Brazilian may have to wait for his first Arsenal start with Emery unlikely to alter the defence which shut out Newcastle on Tyneside.

That should see Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Calum Chambers retain their centre-back roles, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Nacho Monreal at full-back.
Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac are available after being withdrawn from duty last week due to a security situation being investigated by the police.

The duo, who escaped unhurt after an attempted carjacking last month, were not in the squad at Newcastle United last weekend due to “further security incidents”, but Emery says the pair are “good options” to face Burnley.

Emery also confirmed that he will make a decision on whether to start club-record signing Nicolas Pepe after training on Friday.

Lucas Torreira may come in to midfield with Granit Xhaka an injury doubt, while Alexandre Lacazette should start up front after recovering from injury.

As for Burnley, Danny Drinkwater is not yet fit to start for the Clarets as the Chelsea loanee builds up fitness, while Robbie Brady is definitely out with a rib problem.

Sean Dyche is unlikely to deviate too far from the same starting XI which beat Southampton 3-0 at Turf Moor last weekend.

Good morning and welcome to Standard Sport’s LIVE coverage of Arsenal vs Burnley.

The Gunners got their season off to a winning start last Sunday away to Newcastle but it was Sean Dyche’s side that produced one of the results of the weekend, coasting to a 3-0 win over Southampton.

Arsenal fans will be hoping for a glimpse of David Luiz in club colours this afternoon – we have all your team news on the way shortly.

Arsenal vs Burnley team news and predicted lineups
Emery may be tempted to stick with the same XI which beat Newcastle, although he kept plenty in reserve with a strong bench at St James’ Park.

David Luiz will be pushing for his Arsenal debut, as will Lucas Torreira and Alexandre Lacazette, who were both unused subs on Tyneside. Reiss Nelson repaid Emery’s faith last weekend with a solid display, but may be rotated out given the options the coach boasts in attack.

Nicolas Pepe may make his full debut after a promising cameo against Newcastle, while Dani Ceballos could well start. Henrikh Mkhitaryan put in an inconsistent performance versus the Magpies, and is likely to be dropped.

There is no word yet on whether Mesut Ozil or Sead Kolasinac will be available after the pair were stood down for Arsenal’s opener due to ongoing “security concerns” after the pair were the victims of an attempted car-jacking in north London.

As for Burnley, Dyche is unlikely to mess with the lineup which overpowered Southampton last weekend – though the Clarets coach may be tempted to swap an attacker for a defensive-minded player to prevent the Gunners finding space in between the lines of his 4-4-2 formation.

Arsenal XI: Leno; Maitland-Niles, Chambers, Sokratis, Monreal; Guendouzi, Torreira; Nelson, Willock, Aubameyang; Lacazette

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Pieters, Gudmundsson, Cork, Westwood, McNeil, Wood, Barnes

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Burnley
It is no secret that this Arsenal side has a fearsome attack, but what really pleased Emery and fans alike against Newcastle was a solid defensive performance to earn a clean sheet.

Those were few and far between for the Gunners last season, and they have the talent to see off Burnley if they hold their shape as professionally as they did at St James’ Park.

However, the Clarets are already looking good after seeing off Southampton with ease, and Saturday will be the first true test of just how balanced Emery’s new-look side will be.

Arsenal are likely to collect the three points, but anything less than a strong performance will leave the door open for Dyche’s men.
